The department has undergone several transformational stages and continues evolving to catch up with the ever-changing academic and research environment. Currently, the department has 20 academic staff and 6 technical assistants engaged in teaching-learning, research, and community services.
The department, which has four units, is the backbone of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences in delivering veterinary immunology, veterinary microbiology, veterinary pathology, and veterinary parasitology courses for undergraduate students of veterinary medicine, veterinary pharmacy, Veterinary Laboratory Technology (VLT), Animal production, and Animal Science.
The department has four active Master’s programs and Two PhD programs. The masters programs are:
- MSc in Veterinary Parasitology
- MSc in Veterinary Pathology
- MSc in Veterinary Microbiology
- MSc in Veterinary Immunology
In addition, the department has run two active PhD programs in veterinary Parasitology and in veterinary Microbiology.
